ARNO opens logistics centre
„Logistic centre constitutes a huge improvement”
„We
find ourselves in a wonderful enormous hall“ the opening lines from
ARNO CEO Frank Arnholdt to invited guests at the inauguration of the
logistic centre Wolfschlugen on Thursday. And truly with 6500 square
meters floor space, space for 7000 pallets, and 6 ramps, the building
has quite substantial dimensions.
ARNO, with its sales counters, shop-in-shop developments and store
systems, supplies leading companies throughout Europe. “Customers
allocate framework contracts spanning several years. Product storage
enables us the ability to deliver efficiently according to our
customer’s requirements” is how Frank Arnholdt explains the necessity
to build a storage hall. To date products were stored in various rented
storage halls so the new hall depicts a enormous improvement.
The building architect reviewed the long and laborious process
needed to obtain the necessary building permission which was repeatedly
delayed. After the ground breaking ceremony in June this year it was
possible, due to good coordination management, to complete the building
within 3 months. “The supporting parts are, for commercial and fire
restriction purposes, made in a bonded wood construction” explains Mr
Zimmer regarding the technical details of the building. Furthermore,
rainwater is retained on the roof to water the roof greening that is
planned “as an ersatz for the field vacated for the building” as Mr
Zimmer described it.
„This is an historical moment“ is how Remco
from ARNO Hellas, Greece described the inauguration of the logistic
centre, as it was the first time that all employees from all over
Europe gathered together in one location. And so, on Thursday, the
building did not only have logistical and architectural amenities.
